Taking a journey in a wheelchair accessible vehicle

Accessible Car

Are you in a wheelchair?
Do you want to go shopping?
Do you want your hair cut at a hairdresser?
Do you want to keep your independence?

Royal Voluntary Service Country Cars Can Help You!

Call 07833 390649 or email transportconnector@pacto.org.uk  for more information or to book.

Royal Voluntary Service, in conjunction with Pembrokeshire Voluntary Transport and Preseli Rural Transport Association, has 4 accessible vehicles on the road at present covering the whole of Pembrokeshire. Each has space for one wheelchair user and two additional passengers.

The wheelchair is pulled into the vehicle using an electric winch and is anchored safely with 4 floor supports and an ordinary restraint over the shoulder and across the waist. The drivers have had extra training to use this equipment and to provide the confidence which all vulnerable people need and should have.

All the conditions and payments are the same as in the main Country Cars service.

WE WANT TO HELP YOU AND AID YOUR INDEPENDENCE.

BUT of course we always need more volunteers to carry on with this valuable and much-needed scheme, without them we would grind to a halt.

Would you like to hire one of our accessible cars?

Our Accessible Cars are also available for individuals and groups to hire at evenings and weekends, and on weekdays if not required for the Country Car service.

People have hired our cars to help family or friends who are wheelchair users to get to weddings and christenings, to go to evening events or to visit friends. Our cars seat one wheelchair user and up to two other passengers, as well as the driver. Training in using the wheelchair restraints will be provided.

Use is charged at 60p/mile, minimum £18 (the minimum charge includes first 20 miles)

How do I hire an accessible car? Call Katy on 07494 275538 or email bookings@pembrokeshirevoluntarytransport.org.uk
